A Reflection on Five Years in Private Practice and the Path Ahead
Since May 2024, I have been on an extended maternity leave, a pause that has offered me the opportunity to reflect on my professional journey. Over the last five years, I have been deeply engaged in private practice, with the last three years dedicated to developing and expanding my solo practice.
In 2023, alongside running my business, I was presented with a unique opportunity to serve as a School Psychologist in a primary school under the Department of Education. The role was both dynamic and rewarding, allowing me to work closely with teachers, school leadership, parents, children, and the public health network. A highlight of this experience was co-creating and facilitating a "Transition to High School" program for select primary school students, designed to ease the often daunting shift to secondary education. This role, situated within the public school system, complemented my work in private practice, offering invaluable insights into both individual wellbeing and the broader organisational dynamics at play.
As I now step into the chapter of maternity leave, I find myself focused on the personal—prioritising family, taking the time to recharge, and reflecting on the future of my business. This period of pause provides a rare opportunity to not only reconnect with loved ones but also to contemplate professional paths and growth opportunities. The experiences I have gained over the years have been enriching, instilling in me a deeper appreciation for the nuances of authentic wellbeing.
I remain open to new opportunities and ideas, and I look forward to returning with renewed energy and fresh perspectives.
Thank you to those who have supported me throughout this journey. Your understanding during this exciting time is greatly appreciated.
